According to legends, Vridha Badri, as the name implies, char dham yatra is the Badrinath statue of an elderly man. People believe that Vridha Badri housed the original Badrinath idol, where people worshipped the Lord prior to Aadiguru Shankaracharya’s establishment of the idol. Aadiguru Shankaracharya discovered Lord Vishnu’s idol in Narada kund, near the Vridha Badri temple, and established it in Badrinath.

Bhavishya Badri, located in Joshimath, is thought to be Lord Vishnu’s next abode when the road to current Badrinath is closed due to a landslip collapsing Nara and Narayan (referring to Arjun, the third son of Kunti in the Hindu holy epic Mahabharata and Lord Krishna) hills and blocking the path to Badrinath. This devastating landslip will occur when the right arm of the statue of Narsingh (half man and half lion, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu) detaches from his body. The arm is said to be shrinking by the day.
Aadi Badri’s name implies that Lord Vishnu sat in this location in a previous era. The main temple at Aadi Badri, with a black stone idol of Lord Vishnu, char dham yatra tour operators is the Narayan Temple, one of 16 in the area.

Panch Badri is mostly visited by pilgrims, but it also attracts tourists looking for spiritual relaxation and meaning in life. Panch Badri temples, which feature a variety of scriptures and carvings, are popular tourist destinations for art and history students.
