Bhimtal is a lake town adjacent to the popular hill station, Nainital in the state of Uttarakhand. Located at an elevation of 1,370 m above sea level, Bhimtal is one of the popular travel destinations in the Kumaon region.

Archivists believe that Bhimtal was used as a stoppage during the journey to Nepal and Tibet from India and may have been a part of the ancient silk route.
